Chef Tatiana Contreras joined Bon Appetit at Google in 2011 to work with Chef Maggie Pond at the new Cocina Latina. It was there where she really found her love for Latin Cuisine.
After taking a small break to start a family, Tatiana returned to Bon Appetit and worked at Baadal where she learned about traditional Indian Cuisine. She became the sous chef for the award winning Google Child Care Food Program in 2014 where she leads the team in providing meals for more than 550 children and over 100 meals to the Centers’ Instructors.
Chef Contreras grew up in San Diego in a Mexican household where food and family played a huge role. Thanksgiving and Easter were her favorite holidays because her aunts would get together and cook huge meals for the family. She then moved to San Francisco where she attended the California Culinary Academy, graduating in 2003.
She has worked all around the kitchen from dishwasher to grill cook and everything in between. While working several jobs in San Jose, she was given the opportunity to be in the manager in training program with the Nordstrom Restaurant Division. She graduated from the program and was given her first chef position at the age of 22.
